CULTURE NEWS

  • Texas A&M’s Cushing Memorial Library and Archives has received Outlander author Diana Gabaldon’s literary archive—including her papers, notes and memorabilia from the best-selling series—to enhance its Science Fiction and Fantasy Research Collection. The collection will give students, scholars and fans a valuable resource as Gabaldon works on her next Outlander book.  My Aggie Nation

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Texas A&M has been named a dream school by Jeff Selingo in his new book Dream School: Finding the College That's Right for You. The book, based on over two years of research and a survey of over 3,000 parents, highlights the school’s high graduation rates, job market success, and strong traditions — facts that make it one of the most in-demand universities in Texas.  My Aggie Nation
  • At its November meeting, the Texas A&M system board of regents approved nine building projects including a new $114 million meat science and technology center on the RELLIS campus and a $28 million baseball player development center that will start in December. The board also approved a $9.4 million HVAC replacement at Hart residence hall— and moved up construction dates for other campus projects— while discussing additional parking and a $100 million demolition plan to support future operations.  WTAW

  • On Thursday, the College Station Fire Department simulated a plane crash at the former Macy’s store at Post Oak Mall—practicing new emergency techniques. The training aimed to boost the department’s readiness for future incidents.  The Eagle

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Texas A&M women’s cross country team and men's qualifier Jack Johnston will compete at the NCAA Championships at Gans Creek Cross Country Course on Saturday with the women’s 6k starting at 9:20 a.m. and Johnston running the 10k at 10:10 a.m.—the team qualified by winning the NCAA South Central Regional and Johnston earned All-SEC Third Team honors.  WTAW
